The Talking Machine World didn't regularly list releases in Columbia's E-Series. It only did it when Columbia thought that an ethnic record promised to have more popular appeal. That's the case with the March 15, 1915 listings on page 62, which lists all the Italian-language recordings of the opera "Aida" that up to this point had appeared in the E-series. You have probably noticed that the numbers are not consecutive. The listings cover E1934-1938, E1988-1992, E2025-2028, and E2095-2097. I suspect that only the last three records actually appeared in March 1915. DAHR (based on Richard Spottswood's research) dates everything through E1970 to 1914, and I think they are right.

The B side shows a 1917 label design (Note the Notes in the logo on top), the A side a slightly later on (Grafonola in the logo). I can't read the two-letter combination to the right of the spindle hole that would allow us to date the label. What is it? Can you read the matrix and stamper numbers as well that have been stamped into the label?

Intervening catalog numbers suggest that this was released in March, 1915.
