scrough 30th Sep 2019		We can't think of this series as exclusively destined for Africa. By 1951 the GV series was an 'International' series (see the 1951-2 UK Trade Catalogue image here). GV1 was still in the catalogue at this date. However the earliest release date given in the listing is GV 152 for Sept 1948, which is marked for deletion on 31 Jan 1952.



jago125 30th Sep 2019		Re. KeithS' query: Maybe the NCB stamp box wasn't present on the earliest English stamping of GV1. We only have my 1950's re-press to look at now. Please take a look at G.V.19 on this site and you'll see an early pressing (without NCB) and a re-press on which the NCB appeared.

jago125 29th Sep 2019		The original American release of this English Export issue is on the site under catalogue no. 22483. 'N' in the shellac indicates pressed in 1953? Making it a re-press.
