 As great as it is, it seems unlikely that London intended this as the A-side. That was my immediate reaction, soon changed on second thoughts. He was not an established R&R artist in the UK and his first two records were only issued on an EP. Of these two of them had a Country flavor, one was a blues and the finale was Chuck's worst ballad.

"No Money Down" was again basically a blues and "Down Bound Train" was a great reading of an old folk song with serious lyrics. It sold well in the US but wasn't a hit, so maybe London issued it with the Folk/Skiffle audience in mind. The time was right for that market.

BTW - I've started to put in some comments in the US 78 section for anyone interested. A brilliant artist like Berry is always worth reassessing, even the couple of duds that he himself wants to forget.
