I looked up these recordings in the Dooji Collection database. According to that site, the recording date was July 13, 1933. Duke Ellington was on his first triumphant tour abroad, and he did record these and two other sides in London for Decca (the other sides were "Hyde Park" and "Ain't Misbehavin'", released in the UK as Decca M 439 and in the US in late 1934 as Decca 323). Since Ellington worked in Great Britain only till July 24, the August date given by the Online Discographical Project for Decca 800 can't be correct. In fact, the August 15, 1933 session was recorded for ARC back in New York.

Moreover, Ellington didn't record songs with these titles in 1927 at all. So the claim that originally appeared in our Notes here that this record was a re-issue of sides recorded in 1927 was definitely erroneous, and I have deleted it.

 Please enlighten me:
The Discography Project gives 8/15/33 as recording date for both sides and GB6039 & GB6041 respectively as matrix numbers.
Does the "GB" prefix point out an English recording session? If yes, doesn't it make that very Decca release the original release?
Thanks a lot.
