| fixbutte 7th Dec 2015 | NB: The A side artists correctly spell Fuzzy Owen and Bonnie Owens. They were neither married nor related. Bonnie Owens (born Bonnie Maureen Campbell) was actually married to Alvis Edgar Owens, Jr. aka Buck Owens at the time of the recording, and she would marry Merle Haggard in 1965. Charles “Fuzzy” Owen would become Merle Haggard’s longtime manager. See here for more. | |

MAR-VEL 615 released early 1953. MAR-VEL 615B was recorded by GEORGE WILSON with Bill Lillpop’s Western Band - “TURKEY’S IN THE PEA PATCH” NB(3): MAR-VEL 45-MV-102 released early 1953. ... This means that Wikipedia (in the article about Bonnie Owens), saying the original predates the cover version by three years (i.e. was released in 1950), is wrong again.
