| xiphophilos 14th Jul 2017 | Here's a bit more confusion regarding this record: In the August 17, 1946 Billboard on p. 24, Courtney Records advertises Courtney 137 (same combination of titles) as a release by Terry Sell. The latter is a typo for Terry Fell (1921-2007), who appears with Leodie Jackson and his Western Swingsters also on Courtney 116. | |

| HBRALLAN 25th Mar 2016 | Courtney 137 was issued twice, the second issue contained alternative recordings of both songs. One Version, for the sake of argument let us call it version one, has 137.A / 37-3 on the label and 137.A in the deadwax for “That Naggin’ Wife Of Mine”; And 137.B / 36-2 on the label and 138.B in the deadwax for “Double Crossing Mama”. Instrumentation on these recordings is Guitar, Steel Guitar, Fiddle, Bass, and accordion. The alternative version, once again for the sake of argument Version two, has 137.A / 37-3 on the label and 137.A / AS 1216-37-3 in the deadwax for “That Naggin’ Wife Of Mine”, and 137.B / 36-2 on the label and 138.B / AS 1216-36-2 in the deadwax for “Double Crossing Mama”. Instrumentation on these recordings is Guitar, Steel Guitar, Fiddle, Bass, Piano and Drums. Just to confuse matters further the B side of Courtney 130, a release which is credited to Lucky White And His Dude Ranch Playboys, contains the “first version” of “That Naggin’ Wife Of Mine”. I am beginning to think that Courtney 130 may have been mislabeled and the release number should be either Courtney 229 or Courtney 230 as these two numbers are to be found in the deadwax, although the number 229 has been deleted. | |
