And the numerals on Metroblack No. 2 on this one differ from those used by Bert-Co.

If it's the same West Coast printer, that would explain why both this 1946 Capitol Los Angeles pressing and the Columbia pressings by the ARC Pressing Plant in Hollywood used the Metroblack No. 2 typeface for titles and artist names.

Possibly Scranton supplied the metal parts; it was surely a year before the first 'star' symbols began showing up in L.A. deadwax. The label printer on {Images #2869600 & 2869601} was not Bert-Co; however, I wonder if it was the same printer that handled labels for West Coast ARC and Columbia pressings of the late 1930's and early '40's.

The variant of Capitol 256 that I've just uploaded confuses me. The titles are set in a different sans-serif typeface than the Scranton pressings with their condensed fonts. My guess would be that they are a Los Angeles pressing, except both runouts contain the typical Scranton anvil:

A side: 1029-1R (Scranton Anvil) A-3851 [etched] 7
B side: 1030-1L#2 (Scranton Anvil) A-3854 [etched] 4

I'd be grateful for any explanation.
