The aforementioned Hansen was also known as Dr Demento. For those who don't know of him, Dr Demento is the host of a programme that aired on radio from the early 1970s until 2010. It now is on-line only (that fact being a further nail in the coffin of broadcast radio). This version of Pico and Sepulveda is the theme song for the show during its early years. A later version by The Roto Rooter Good Time Christmas Band is now used.

This is really Freddy Martin, of course, whose band at that time was in residence at the Ambassador Hotel in Hollywood. He opened up his own record shop in the hotel, then launched his Ambassador label to release some of his own recordings (under various pseudonyms) along with those of other artists.
These sides were later re-released in 1947 on an Enterprise-distributed Ambassador label with the catalog number 275.

Los Angeles residents may recall "Pico And Sepulveda" as becoming the unofficial theme song for FM station KMET around 1970. I suspect that Barrett Hansen may have had something to do with that.
