xiphophilos 7th Jan 2017		If you can enter it with a sound example, maybe someone will be able to recognize the performer(s). If it's some type of home recording by a garage band, then we're probably out of luck, of course.



Magic Marmalade 7th Jan 2017		Thanks xiph, Once I've recorded, ripped, re-speeded it and have heard what's on it, I'll enter mine... although I doubt I'll be able to enter it as any particular artist.



xiphophilos 7th Jan 2017		Based on several emidiscs that I found online (examples on Ebay), (example 2), they seem to be privately recorded on recording blanks.



Magic Marmalade 7th Jan 2017		I found one of these yesterday... same label and size, but with no writing on it. I didn't know till I tried to play it earlier it was a 78rpm, but even at that speed, I am able to make out that the song on it is "Abide With Me" (With what sounds like distortion on it at the start). It has the green "etched" EMI Emidisc logo on the back, but didn't think it was an "acetate", as I thought they had metal plates in them, and so were heavy. Mine is just vinyl. Is this the type of thing that someone would just pay to go into a small studio or booth to record something like a message to send to someone in the post... or does the Emidisc logo mean that it was some kind of actual EMI artist?
