Contains a Valentine's Day message for Miss Beulah Bornholdt (1920-2015) by her future husband, Walter S. Blake, Jr. (1918 -1975) from Baltimore, MD, recorded in Washington, DC, on Feb. 14, maybe 1940. Walter Blake appears in the 1940 U.S. Census records, collected on April 4, 1940, as an enlisted man and instructor at the Marine Corps Barracks in Washington, DC. Later, he fought in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he obtained his Ph.D., became a Professor of Education, and served in the late 1960s as the Director of the Oregon Council for Education.
