| | Regarding the origins of the B-side, legend has it that in 1892, during the poet's sojourn in Napoli, Gabriele D'Annunzio was challenged by an acquaintance, songwriter Ferdinando Russo, to compose a song in Neapolitan. That same evening D'Annunzio composed a sonnet, 'A Vucchella, in the space of only five minutes, and later sent it to a fellow Abruzzese, Francesco Paolo Tosti, who composed the music to what would become one of the most well-known Neapolitan songs of all time. |
