Victrola 720 - I just added the image of the corrected 720-A from archive, to show that the runout of both versions has a different size. I thought it meant a different take. Or do these Victrolas have labels of different size? - Playing time shown on archive for The Old Refrain is 2:38; for Viennese Popular Song 2:55.

I presume, because of {Image #3461041}, the label would be 4.0625" diameter? Or would that be 3.6875"?

We can also simply link the two versions (see below), which makes it easier to list the correct A title in the title fields. The Internet Archive version, by the way, has a 1 at the 9 o'clock position, that is, take 1, which DAHR lists as "Master/destroy".

Victrola 720-A - label with alternative title added (mistitled first pressing?), from archive, which can be very useful to trace some popular recordings and where they can be heard (which is the real aim of that website). - At present this different title is listed as a separate entry, but I would prefer to keep such kind of information together, as title variations are not unusual.

Based on the catalog number 720 (i.e., a 10-inch record below 917) and label design, this record, with take 5 on the A side) was part of the first selection of 140 older recordings coupled on the new double-faced Victrola records, cf. announcement in The Talking Machine World, September 15, 1923, page 24.

Originally, B-14343, take 5 had been released in July 1916 as "The Old Refrain" (Vienna Popular Song) [not Viennese] on Victor 64529.

In 1924, the old stampers of "The Old Refrain" became too worn to make more pressings, and Kreisler recorded a new version (take 9) so that the popular Victrola 720 could continue to be sold.

So far, there is not a single picture online of a Victrola 720 label that lists the title of the A side as "Viennese Popular Song". Is there any way you could take at least an image with your phone and upload it?
