Plaza mx 8478-2 The group most commonly known as The Whoopee Makers, usually made up of members of Ben Pollack’s or Ben Bernie’s bands for the purpose of recording jazz sides for the Cameo/Plaza group.
Recorded January 18, 1929 “Icky Blues” bjo and v- Dick “Icky” Morgan. Session also includes : Jimmy McPartland, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Ray Bauduc.
Other issues: Bernardo 3001, Conqueror 7303, Challenge 958, Domino 4278, Jewel 5547, Oriole 1515, Regal 8723. Some issues use “Dixie Jazz Band”, “Jimmy Bracken’s Toe Ticklers”

 An “Icky” was a square or undesirable person, not “in” with the “in crowd” In other words, not hip, uncool
Depending on the label, takes 2 or 3 were used on Icky Blues. The above Banner is -3
