Like several other King records added by 78-Ron, his copy has a mixed label design, with the original 1945 label for the B-side but a revised label for the A-side which was not introduced before mid-1946. I've added an original 1945 A-side label image now to round out the picture (main image now).

"Midnite Special", credited as written by Jim Scott (aka Alton Delmore), is the same song that was popularized by Leadbelly in 1940 via his recording with the Golden Gate Quartet for Victor, but with different lyrics. The Delmore Brothers must have known the song much longer though, as the first hillbilly version was already recorded in 1926 by Dave Cutrell ("Pistol Pete's Midnight Special", OKeh 45057), and Bill Cox' hillbilly version of 1933 (on Melotone M12797 and many other ARC labels) was presumably a best-seller.
