Allan Sutton reports that G & G was a replacement for Gem, following the reorganization of songwriter Joe Greene's Royal Record Company as Sepia Records, Inc. in March 1946. However, numbering of G & G seems to pick up where that of the earlier Coronet records stopped. Note that catalog numbers of Coronet releases are the same as Gem's plus 1000 (eg. Coronet 1023 = Gem 23). Greene's G & G label was produced from mid-1946 to early 1947. cf. Allan Sutton, American Record Companies and Producers, 1888-1950, p. 440

Apparently, this label style and manufacturer is just a later iteration of the Golden Guinea G & G, and just a continuation of the 1000 series, based in information in Bob McGrath's "The R&B Indies"- although that source does have errors, it seems correct in this instance. G & G was intermixed with Gem singles, and was also affiliated with the Royal and Sepia labels, all out of Los Angeles, then later Hollywood.

This doesn't seem to related to the Golden Guinea G & G. Different graphics and address. So I'm guessing there were two labels with the same name in 1940s California?
