xiphophilos 21st Feb 2016		In 1953, TV show host Arthur Godfrey fired the singer Julius LaRosa, whom he had regularly featured on his program but who had started to receive even more fan mail than Godfrey himself, with the comment that LaRosa had lost his "humility." Ruth Wallis's song mocks this comment by offering herself as a replacement singer with lots of humility: "Dear Mr. Godfrey, Listen to my plea Hire me and fire me And make a star of me. If only opportunity knocks upon my door, I have such humility Like never saw before. (Refrain) Humility, humility, Julius lost his humility."
