"La Paloma" is a popular song written by Spanish Basque composer Sebastian Yradier around 1863, after he had made a visit to Havana, Cuba.

Spanish lyrics:

Cuando salí de la Habana (¡Valgame Dios!)
Nadie me ha visto salir Si no fuí yo
Y una linda Guachinanga (Allá voy yo),
Que se vino tras de mi (Que sí, Señor).

Refrain:
Si a tu ventana llega Una Paloma,
Trátala con cariño, Que es mi persona.
Cuéntale tus amores, Bien de mi vida,
Corónala de flores, Que es cosa mia.
Ay! chinita que sí!
Ay! que dame tu amor!
Ay! que ven te conmigo,
Chinita, adonde vivo yo!

English translation:

When I left Havana (help me God!)
nobody saw me leaving other than myself
and a pretty Guachinangan girl (here I go!)
who went behind me (oh yes, Lord!).

Chorus:
If a dove comes to your window,
treat it with loving, since it's myself.
Tell it about your love, you dear of my life,
crown it with my favorite flowers.

Oh, sweet little girl, yes,
oh give me your love!
Oh, if you could come with me,
sweet little girl, to where I live!

Wright sings another stanza in a low, masculine voice, but I can't understand it.
