Bing Crosby's brother Bob was the nominal leader of one the best and most versatile big bands of the time, with a creative core known as the Bobcats or Bob Cats. On this album here, The Bob Crosby Showcase, the members of the orchestra appear in all kind of groups, e.g. The Bob Crosby Orchestra, Bob Crosby's Bob Cats and, selected from these, Four Of The Bob Cats. One side of the album, "The Big Noise From Winnetka", was performed by an even smaller unit, just bassist Bob Haggart and drummer Ray Bauduc.

Both this side and "I'm Praying Humble", by the big band, were among the 55 "current best-selling records" that LIFE Magazine listed in its Dec 18, 1939 issue. In addition, there was a third record on the list inspired by this album here, "What's New?" by the Benny Goodman Orchestra, which was based on the instrumental "I'm Free" of the Crosby band featuring Billy Butterfield's shining trumpet. All three numbers were composed by the ultra-creative bassist of the band, Bob Haggart.

All label images, including both versions of the retitled side 2, uploaded. Wonderful album cover for the time, with pictures of the band and lineup information on the inside cover.
