xiphophilos 2nd Oct 2018		Candy Candido (1913-1999) was a bass player and singer in Ted Fio Rito's big band. He also played for Harry James and Jimmy Dorsey for a while. But he's probably best known for his second career as a voice actor, playing, e.g., an Angry Apple Tree in "The Wizzard of Oz" (1939), the fat mouse Gus in "Cinderella" (1950), and the Indian Chief in Walt Disney's "Peter Pan" (1953). On this record, he nicely demonstrates his amazing vocal range by singing a soprano-bass duet with himself on "Ma! (He's Making Eyes At Me)", whereas on "The Big Bass Fiddle" he sings the main lyrics with his tenor voice, but then also mimics the bass he's playing with his darkest bass voice.
