| | “British Dance Bands on Record” by Brian Rust lists all of them, except the accordion bands (which weren’t included in the book). I can add that list. Rust is pretty authoritative on personnel so I think those pseudonyms can be stated with some level of certainty.
It’s quite annoying that Rust excluded accordion bands from his book, as I would really like to have a list of Bidgood’s accordion records to check the vocalists. I’m not sure what other resource there might be for that, apart from listening to the records. |

| | It's possible to link aliases like "Jack Phillips' Melodians" to "Harry Bidgood". I wonder, though, if all his aliases were always exclusively used by Bidgood, or if some of them were actually shared by different performers. If the latter is the case, then linking these names would make a lot of non-Bidgood material show up under his name.
Another, maybe preferable way would be to use "Add Tag" below and simply tag all performances by Harry Bidgood, regardless under which name, with "Harry Bidgood." |

| | Bidgood was ubiquitous in the Broadcast studios. The majority of bands on the label were actually his for long stretches of time. I'm not sure what mechanisms exist on this site for "amalgamating" his pseudonyms in any completely effective way but here are some possibilities:
If we do a good job of tagging the individual discs with a notation about the real identity, you could probably sort for Bidgood and find the ones that are in the database.
If somebody wanted to tackle it, a list devoted to Bidgood pseudonymous records could be prepared. As with the first idea, this would be limited to the discs in the database.
If you start a forum on it, perhaps a running list of his pseudonyms can be compiled and maintained there.
Older hands might have a better grasp of what else the site can do along these lines. |
