Risqué 78 RPM record, likely from the mid- to late-1940s. Artists are anonymous on disc, but have been identified:
A. Joe Rines And His Orchestra, a.k.a. John Ryan [1940s]
B. Johnny Messner And His Orchestra

Numbers on labels and in runouts are control numbers. These are dubbed from the following:

Side A (mx. US 1917-1) recorded August 1940 and originally released on Varsity 8413.

Side B (mx. US 7873-17-3) recorded September 1939 and originally released on Varsity 8083.

cyeaman SUBS 13th Sep 2022		Yes, all those Grey Gull and Radiex records belong to the "real" John Ryan, who was a freelance tenor who recorded prolifically in the 1920s. Records on the Top Hat, "John Ryan" and Varsity labels were by Joe Rines using the "John Ryan" pseudonym. I think, but am not certain, that Rines also recorded for RCA in the late 40s using the pseudonym. I don't know whether or not "Johnny Ryan" is the same artist.
Mike Gann 12th Sep 2022		That tells me that this is not the John Ryan that recorded in the 1920's and we have them in the same discography.
cyeaman SUBS 12th Sep 2022		The uncredited artist on Side A is Joe Rines, a society bandleader, vocalist and commercial jingle composer who recorded mildly risqué material for Eli Oberstein's Varsity label under the pseudonym "John Ryan" in the 1930s and 40s. Much of this output was reissued after World War II on several obscure "party record" labels such as Kicks, Top Hat Records, "John Ryan Record", "Risqué" and High Society Records.
