Label images eventually uploaded, confirming the dubious Down Beat release. Thanks, han enderman, for leading me to the source for the actual record and for your informative comment about the erratic Down Beat / Swing Beat / Swing Time numbering that I have noticed only now.
Down Beat 205, by 'Jay McShann & His Band That Jumps The Blues' can be heard & seen on the internet archive. It is not known on Swing Time.
The last Down Beat issue in the normal series is 230, but between 205 and 230 I only have seen 207, 211 and 219 on the Down Beat label, while 212, 220-221 and 230 are on Swing Beat, and 209, 215-218, 222 and 226-229 are only known on Swing Time. 230 and 231 were released on Swing Records (and are not known on Swing Time).
As 232/233 are unknown, all releases in the range 234-347 are on Swing Time only.
Blues Records 1943-1970 by Leadbitter et al. (1994) correctly lists the A side as Soft Winds, but incorrectly gives the issue as ST 205, recorded 1949. Swing Time 205 is already listed, with correct titles, in Jepsen's Jazz Records 1942-1962 from 1963.
BigBadBluesMan, as you claim to own this record: The song on the A-side is apparently titled "Soft Winds", not "Soft Words", as all sources say, and should be on the label like this. In addition, the label may be Down Beat despite the relatively high number (there was no logical sequence in the Down Beat / Swing Beat / Swing Time catalog) but then it was not released in 1950 but rather in 1949. The Down Beat name was discontinued in Oct 1949, see http://home.earthlink.net/~jaymar41/SwingT.html and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swing_Time_Records.
