Recorded October 1923 in Chicago, Illinois for Paramount; dubbed from older records; issued as "Tin Roof Blues" and "Black Sheep Blues" on Paramount 20272; Paramount 14023, Claxtonola 1535, 40272, Harmonograph 863, Puritan 11272

Per Rust, musicians are Bernie Young, cornet; Preston Jackson, trombone; Philmore Holly, clarinet; Lil Hardaway (Henderson); piano; Mike McKendrick, banjo; Eddie Temple, drums; Anna Oliver, Ollie Powers, vocals

"Black Sheep Blues" is not listed in Rust, or maybe is listed under another band name. Some sources note it as matrix 1532-1. "Tin Roof Blues" is matrix 1535-1.

Boris Rose was an infamous New York City resident and jazz fan who recorded hundreds of live shows and radio broadcasts, and dubbed hundreds of old blues and jazz 78's onto records which he pressed himself and sold to jazz collectors through mail order in the 1940's and 1950's. At one time, there was a short documentary or story on him on YouTube.
