Although John Haley, Bill's son, wrote that his father was on these recordings, this is now known to be erroneous. However several radio recordings of Haley with the band were unearthed about 15 years ago and were released by Bear Family - including one or two of the songs featured on the two singles.

According to Kenny Roberts, he was the yodeler on this record, not Bill Haley. Hear him discuss Vogue session here.

Just added images taken from actual record. I'm not sure if the other images are from an original or taken from internet images. As no else seems to own this record ,I suspect it is the latter, in which case my images should be moved up to top position.

Incidentally i didn't pay anything like $500 for this, got it on a Joel Slotnikoff auction about 5 years ago for something like $46.

Bill Haley's son ' John W. Haley in his excellent biography on his father states "On January 27th, 1946 the Down Homers recorded five tunes for their first record contract - On the two records which were eventually released Bill played rhythm guitar. These early 78 rpm Vogue recordings of Bill Haley with the Down Homers are among the rarest of Haley's country-western discs. They bring in bids of over $500.00 from savvy record collectors."

This was written in 1989 and published in 1990. John Haley further gives late 1945 as the time period when Bill met Down Homers leader Shorty Cook and joined up with the group.
