I have a a dozen or so Pan paperbacks in my accumulation, but those I purchased in the USA are UK editions, either used, or import copies.

annaloog 23rd Oct 2023		Book John Crowley - Beasts (1978)	Di Fate's artistic style is more easily recognized (IMO) in his spaceship paintings. His painting for the Jack Vance Throy cover is typical, and shows his signature similar to the upper half here. Some of his covers have been tagged.

I think that Ignatiev's supposed involvement in the Sepoy mutiny was an invention, however inspired, in George Macdonald Fraser's well-researched novel, Flashman in the Great Game. Apparently, adding an 'English title' for an English language entry via Add Missing Info. is not an option, although you could do so via Make Correction.

I wonder if it mentions Count Ignatiev's (alleged ) involvement in (IIRC) instigating the rumor concerning the ingredients in the cartridge grease. ---------- This may be just a literary invention.

Avon no. 1-40 (1941-'43) went unnumbered on their covers, however, the cat. nos. could be inferred from listings on the inside back covers of contemporaneous issues.
