JimEss SUBS 10th Jun 2020		Book Erle Stanley Gardner - Fools Die On Friday (1951)	Someone in authority must have complained because later printings (about 1953) have the cleavage on the front cover painted over. See the discussion here, for example.
JimEss SUBS 8th Apr 2020		Book J. T. McIntosh - World Out Of Mind (1956)	I've added the rear cover for this one since it attributes the cover art to Robert Powers instead of Richard Powers. I assume that's a mistake. The given printing history verifies that the Doubleday edition was published June, 1953 and the Science Fiction book club edition was published in August, 1953, the first of two printings.
JimEss SUBS 18th Mar 2020		Book Edward S. Aarons - Assignment (1966)	It's definitely Barye. I've since added others by him on Gold Medal and Signet. I'm paying attention to other artists as well, so I'm slowly learning. My normal practice is to add the artist in the notes if credited inside or on the back cover, but I don't interpret the signatures. One of the highlights of bookcat are the remarkable gallery views, especially for the paperback publishers. That will only get better, maybe someday select on genre. The artists will probably need to be put in lists. I've noticed that I can't sort my collection by publisher, perhaps a bug or a limitation.

JimEss SUBS 14th Jan 2020		Book Thomas Perry - A Small Town (2020)	The kindle edition was available on 17 Dec. 2019, three weeks before the hardcover. So I've entered 2019 in the First Published field.
JimEss SUBS 1st Jan 2020		Book Eric Arthur Blair - 1984 (2019)	135th Signet Classic printing, and their top seller as of late 2019. I've included their Top Twenty chart from the back of the book. Shakespeare is hanging in there pretty well. These are mostly student sales I would imagine, and no need for elaborate cover art, although I haven't looked up all of them.

I've used the later date, not the earlier. This type of dating notation seems to be common with Cardinal books.

JimEss SUBS 11th Oct 2019		Book H. G. Wells - Mr. Blettsworthy On Rampole Island (1928)	I entered the subtitle as it appears on the spine of the book. On the title page it's a little longer: Being the story of a Gentleman of Culture and Refinement who suffered Shipwreck and saw no Human Beings other than Cruel and Savage Cannibals for several years. How he beheld Megatheria alive and made some notes of their Habits. How he became a Sacred Lunatic. How he did at last escape in a Strange Manner from the Horror and Barbarities of Rampole Island in time to fight in the Great War, and how afterwards he came near returning to that island for ever. With much Amusing and Edifying Matter concerning Manners, Customs, Beliefs, Warfare, Crime, and a Storm at Sea. Concluding with some Reflections upon Life in General and upon these Present Times in Particular.

So Viking imported this one, and I would assume for the chance to use the same covers as the UK publisher. Price is $6.95 on inner jacket. Jacket design by Stephen Russ, but no cover artist is named.
