ppint. 30th Jan 2023		Book David McDaniel - The Arsenal Out Of Time (1967)	liked by then-junior ace books editor terry carr, but disliked by senior editor don wollheim, the ms. was rejected by ace books in 1965. after the major success of his first man from uncle novel, ''the dagger affair'' (ace 1965) and the success of his second such, ''the vampire affair'' (ace 1966), he was invited to re-submit it, and it was published after being shortened by about 2k words: the cut scene, a tuckerisation of one of his friends, appeared in the fanzine, the best of apa-L no. 3 ed. lee gold (1972). david mcdaniel's last, unpublished, man from uncle novel, ''the final affair'' was commisioned to appear as the man from uncle novel #24 (ace mmpb numbering sequence), but wasn't completed until after the merkin t.v. network ended the series, and ace books was no longer interested in it; however, it was widely circulated in handwritten copies within man from uncle fandom, and later made available as a .pdf at http://www.spywise.net/pdf/jan_10/TheFinalAffair.pdf this may still be available via the waybackmachine.

ppint. 28th Jan 2023		Book Louis Charbonneau - Corpus Earthling	priory books imprint undated uk p/b first printing, not first uk p/b edition almost certainly illegal unauthorised edition, attributed by les flood to ''the nefarious peter haddock'' cover art unsigned, uncredited (poorly-printed, it may well also have been pirated) cover price 25p, 75c south africa, $1.00 australia, $1.00 new zealand, $1.00 canada, $1.25 usa 160pp. including titles, indicia etc. i know of no reason to believe this edition was ever distributed to the book trade in the yuk-of-gb-&-ni at (a discount off) the printed uk cover price, nor as a new book via the book trade in any of the other countries in whose currencies it is further priced: i've heard nor seen any report of this, and know it as a new book only from the remainder books dump cages in branches of f. w. woolworth's, where it was typically price-gun label marked at e.g. 7½p, and suspect it was produced as an instant remainder, being printed in israel at a time at least some isrealli printers would accept rights-breaking jobs.
