Book
Notes Edited by Nelson and Andrew Hunt. Part of a permanent art commission for Focal Point Gallery. Images/scans of 530 book covers (back and rear, but not always presented together) once held by a public library in Southend-on-Sea, England, that were reportedly not being moved to a new location for the library (instead, the discarded books featured in the exhibit were to be stored in the gallery). No copyright, publisher, ISBN or any other material on the book itself; the book (the front and spine are a scan of a book cover for the 1933 volume Pocahontas by David Garnett) is encapsulated in a clear plastic dust cover. The pockets of the dust jacket contain two printed pamphlets: a 16-page "interview" booklet in which Nelson explains the rationale behind the exhibit; and a 16-page booklet labelled "Index" though it is actually a listing in order of appearance of the books and original publication information, plus a page of editorial/copyright credits. The book itself has no page numbering, but is more than 1000 pages. Limited edition of 1,000 copies. Images
