Cover subtitle "A Novel" is not on title page; title page credits Burroughs first, while the dust jacket credits Kerouac first. 214 pages.

23skidoo 13th Sep 2023		For Burroughs fans this short novel was the stuff of legend for a long time. Many first heard about it when Burroughs mentioned it in the documentary "What Happened to Kerouac?" After reciting the odd title (reportedly taken from a phrase uttered by a radio news announcer reporting on a fire at a zoo), he dismissed it as "not a distinguished work". The way he said it made fans want to see it all the more. After that the only official sign of it was an excerpt that appeared the posthumously published Burroughs anthology, Word Virus. Eventually I guess the rights were worked out enough to allow the complete book to be published. Burroughs was correct in his estimation, but it's still an interesting piece of literary dating back to before Kerouac hit the road the Burroughs had lunch naked.
