23skidoo 25th Nov 2023		Submitted correction for date of first publication as it should be 1871 (illustrations don't matter) unless this is some form of altered text. 1871 per Google search, not 1870, btw. There was a "simplified" edition published in 1914 rewritten by Elizabeth Kirk and yet another version by Dan Larsen in the 1970s. But as this is unlikely to be either of these, 1871 is the correct year of first publication.



ppint. 24th Sep 2023		thomas bouregy & co. airmont books small format trade p/b first printing airmont classics series CL100 nf introduction by dr. alan c. thomas likely © copyright 1966 cover art unsigned, uncredited interior b+w illustrations probably by arthur hughes (1871), but i've not checked this; the novel, illustrated by arthur hughes, was first published 1870 or 1871 with illustrations by jessie wilcox smith, first published 1919 with illustrations by f. d. bedford, first published 1924 with illustrations by frances brundage, first published 1927 cover price 60¢ 288pp. including titles, indicia, introduction, etc. distinguish from at least one further printing, perhaps more, by reference to the last printed page of the text (i.e. ignoring any advertising/promotional pages) for printer's code/abbreviation of date, also increase in printed cover price; cover price 75¢ known, is the cover image above; date not given by original poster
