 The 1993 edition credits the actual authors on the title page (though still as "Harvard Lampoon" on the cover). To keep the editions together, I'm going to suggest the author credit be changed to "Various Authors" with Beard and Kenney credited as co-authors, with Harvard Lampoon as the pen name.

 Rated 1/10
the concept was a good one, arguably; at least, the initial idea - and the opening passage, as it were - are funny, in their own, horrible and horrific way. almost poetic.

but the execution of the rest - and by far the greater part - is woefully poor. it presents the reader with an inadequate travelogue pretty much bereft of ideas, no further vignettes of incidents riffing off climactic scenes and/or perhaps overpowerfully-penned vistas of the original, and it fails to tell a story that makes sense even in its own, twisted terms: overall, it is what it implicitly (and falsely) accuses its inspiration of being - "bored of the rings" is an over-extended single gag, and - worst of all - it is a bore.

9th through 11th printings by number-string share cat# Y5588 and therefore cover price of $1.25
1st through 8th printings share cat# N4002 and therefore cover price $1.00

two editions/printings of the stated first printing share merkin-printed covers;
refer to indica to see if carcass of copy held was canadadian- or merkin- printed:
no priority established nor liable to be.

various printings of this travesty were distributed in the yuk-of-gb-and-norn-iron at least, initially by or via (it was on their catalogue) n.e.l. bearing a small oval 25 or 30p price sticker, and progressively higher;
later distribution was by or via howard & wyndham's paperback arm, again with a uk price stickered, and maybe later printed upon the back of the card covers.
i think i recall holocaust^W happy hamlyn paperbacks also distributing this - but i no longer have the locuses, paperback parlours, or hamlyn paperbacks' monthly release sheets, to be certain of this.
