Published under the Doctor Who: The Missing Adventures Line, this is a novelization of an independently made (non-BBC) spin-off film that featured the TV characters of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, Victoria Waterfield and Sarah Jane Smith, but not the Doctor. The Doctor likewise doesn't appear in this novelization, either. Platt adapts his own screenplay. The film (and novel) are notable for introducing the character of Kate Stewart, who became part of the TV cast in 2013. The story itself is a sequel to the Great Intelligence story arc of the 1960s (which itself would resume in the TV series in 2012). One of only a handful of Doctor Who-branded novels, and the only one released under the Missing Adventures banner, in which the Doctor does not appear.

Includes a photo section of images from the film production. 266 pages, not including photo insert. Cover art depicts Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier and Deborah Watling as Victoria.
