I have found this to be a useful discography over the years. As for pricing, it gives a "ballpark" idea, but in no way should be considered authoritative at the time. Trends, supply and demand come and they go.

I bought this as more of a reference rather than a price guide. If you want current valuation of records two useful online resources are:

Popsike & Collectors Frenzy

which both summarize EBay selling prices

I like Popsike as you can see the trends on how some items rise and fall in price over a given time.

The values stated within represent only those paid for similar items in the then-recent past, condition being a primary factor. They are of no guarantee of present worth. They could be higher. They could be lower. And there are such disclaimers in the book.

If you want present day up-to-the-minute real world value, Ebay is a good resource by checking their Completed listings. Never go by the Starting Bid or Asking (Buy It Now) Price. It's only worth that much if it sells for that much.

All prices are subjective, from a Seller's point of view, and from a Buyer's point of view. Generally a record's true value is what anyone would be willing to pay to replace the item at any given time.

I've got the 7th Edition by Martin Popoff and mine covered more years, 1948-1991...
With each later edition, less years will be covered due to more information and
page limitations.

Some of the values are hilarious. It's only worth an amount, if there is someone out there willing to pay that.
