| ppint. 1st Apr 2018 | near-identical editions/printings sharing merkin-printed covers and hence also cat# and cover art by michael whelan: also b+w frontispiece is by him refer to indica to check if the carcass of the copy held was merkin- or canadadian- printed, also number string after statement of first printing date 123456789 (merkin), 23456789 (canadian). no temporal priority in publication established by this, nor liable to be; also: cover price $2.95 (merkin), $3.50 (canadian) cover advertising puff-line should still be deleted from sub-title field subsequent printings drop further numbers, the ordinality being given by the lowest number remaining, and further canadadian printings (if any) may duplicate the number strings of merkin higher printings, though moving apart in date. cat# remains UE1635 through the 5th printing, though the almost-meaningless collectirs number disappears with the 4th ("456789") and does not return with the 5th ("56789"); another difference between 3rd & 4th some alert bibliographer's noted is that the rear page mail-order cost rises from 50¢ to $1, though the books advertised are identical... cat# changes to UE2051 with the 7/1985 sixth printing, isbn 0886770513, which should presumably be a new bookcat item separate from this. witch world/high halleck series #1 witch world series #1: "witch world" (1963), q.v. for series & sub-series listing and links. | |
