ppint. 28th Mar 2019		this is by no means a simple translation of "l'étonnant voyage de hareton ironcastle", the (serialised 1922) 1923 original work, into english: it is described as a retelling, and is close to being a "posthumous collaboration" by philip josé farmer with j. h. rosny ainé.



ppint. 28th Mar 2019		near-identical editions/printings sharing merkin-printed covers, and hence also cat#, cover art by roy krenkel (credited, and art is signed "rgk") b+w interior illustrations - on title page, plus six full-page - also by krenkel (credited) near-meaningless daw books no. 187 cover price $1.25 176pp? including titles, indica etc, end p. advertising refer to indica to see if carcass of copy held was canadadian- or merkin- printed.. no priority established nor liable to be, both bear first printing march 1976 / 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 near-identical third printing bears cat# UJ1545, isbn 0-87997-545-8, cover price $1.95, indica publishing history number-string drops first two digits: 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 but gives no date for this printing. dated 6/1980 by jaffery.



ppint. 28th Mar 2019		cat# is^W was wrong and should^W has been corrected to UY1225, or simply deleted. number in isbn13 field is^W was wrong and should^W has been deleted: it was not an isbn of any kind.° (° - it's the nal isbn publisher code 451 followed by the daw books cat#, with the price in cents appended. for a while this number-string, parts separated by hyphens, was put on the bottom of daw mmpb spines, presumably to speed handling in nal's warehouse. it was superseded by use of daw books' isbns.) no isbn13 is correct as they wouldn't be invented for another three to four decades.
