Notes

Undated (but 1970s or early 80s) facsimile edition of a 1936 UK publication, the first of a series, in which Wheatley recounted a murder mystery by way of replica telegrams, letters, photo inserts, and other ephemera, with the reader encouraged to work out the culprit themselves, with the solution to the mystery contained on a page sealed at the back of the book. Designed by J. G. Links. Bound, including a ribbon tying the pages together.

23skidoo 3rd Jul 2020		My copy was previously owned and that person "broke the seal" at the back of the book to get to the solution and then re-sealed it using white tape. Which is fine except it completely obscures any ISBN or SSN number (except for the last digit). I did some research and apparently Rutledge Press reprinted this at least twice with 1973 and 1981 both turning up in Google search, so I left the date field blank. Maybe someone has an intact copy of the reprint. Wheatley and Links did at least 3 such "interactive novels" and it appears Rutledge reproduced at least two. A notable feature of this facsimile is that it has no copyright page (perhaps the info was on the back cover, now obscured by the tape?)
