ppint. 16th Feb 2019		daw books near-identical simultaneous mmpb first printings sharing merkin-printed covers cover art by hannah g. shapero (credited) near-meaningless daw books number 452 368pp? including titles, indicia etc. but not cover price, nor indicia printing number-string: cover price $2.95 printing number-string, 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 book (=carcass) and cover printed in usa cover price $3.50 printing number-string, 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 cover printed in usa, book (=carcass) printed in canada, first printing in canadada. both bear first printing month & year date before the number-string. check indicia also for near-identical copy bearing only cover price $3.50 bearing printing history number-string 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 printed in canada book (=carcass) printed in canada; this was the second printing of the book carcass in canada, and was evidently retrospectawigglily accounted the third printing by daw books, inc. fourth printing by number-string, isbn 0-87997-836-8, cat# 1836, cover price $3.50 in daw books yellow box front cover colophon, daw books number is dropped. fifth printing by number-string drops all remaining small print from daw books yellow box front cover colophon, isbn 0-87997-913-5, cat# UE1913 hannah shapero's cover art is retained through (at least) the daw books 11th mmpb printing, but is shrunk somewhat and heavily cropped from the ninth printing (11/1988 from locus) onward, so as to fit within the frame designed and painted by richard hescox for daw books' uniform darkover edition.
