janiejjones 27th Feb 2017		OldMod, practice (and key fields) suggest barcode/ISBN change is a new entry, publishers of course also. Continuous publication by the same publisher of the same format would be summed under the same release for each re-print, including changes of cover design. What I am not sure about, and has not been answered yet, is how to work the introduction of ISBNs, and later barcodes, because any book from up to the late 20th century will look silly with an ISBN or barcode. (As do all books, and especially records, in my opinion. I hate barcodes and myriads of logos defacing these items)



OldMod67 24th Feb 2017		Message for mods :How are we differentiating between editions of titles? Is is just ISBN or different impressions? For example, I've got one paperback edition of this, same front cover - but highly knackered, what I call my 'reading copy'; It's a Grafton/HarperCollins edition published in 1992 (second printing) with an ISBN of 0261102435 and a barcode of 9780261102439. Should this have a separate (linked) entry?



ppint. 12th Jan 2016		i'ven't a no-eyed deer whether there's an official, 45cat/books way - but given there's a space between the names when they're written in full, i'd've thunk there'd still be spaces between 'em, when abbrev. (cf. "john w. campbell jr." - not "john w.campbelljr." nor even "john w.campbell jr.")

(t'other contributor, of the related book club edition, forgot to space after the initials for john ronald reuel - and "45bookscat" seemingly treats "j.r.r." as one name.°) ° - this could be regarded as a bug, or declared to be a feature - how micro$oftish are you feeling today?
