| ppint. ● 5th Dec 2021 | david: *nods* - but n.b. the 1984 mmpb is from a completely different merkin publisher, berkley-putnam or berkley publishing group, initially under their berkley imprint - and later, under the ace books imprint, which they'd bought from (or as part of acquiring all of) grosset & dunlap's mmpb (and most/all? of their trade books) publishing division. this 1983 7th daw books mmpb printing is almost certainly the final daw books printing. | |

The $2.25 price and this catalogue number (which does appear to be from 1983) seem to have only been for the 7th printing. In 1984 the price increased to $2.50 and there was a different cover design. | ppint. ● 3rd Dec 2021 | @langston: if you look inside the book, on the reverse of the title page you will find, inter alia, the printing history number line, from which numbers are progressively dropped with each further printing. the lowest number remaining in the printing history number line of your copy is probably the number 7 (since i am not holding your copy, i cannot be certain: it might be that the lowest number remaining in the number line is 6, or possibly 8; but 7 is the most likely); this indicates that your copy is NOT the first daw books mmpb printing of 1977. it indicates that it is the 7th daw books mmpb printing. the isbn is also wrong for the 1977 first daw books mmpb printing. the cover price is also wrong for the 1977 first daw books mmpb printing. if you look at the box that is below the header, ''primary edition'', and click or tap on the box, this will take you to the entry for the daw books 1977 first mmpb printing, - and you will be able to note the detailed differences between it, and your copy - inter alia, that the (admittedly near-meaningless) daw book collector number present in the small yellow box top right on the front cover of the first printing is absent, and the new daw books cat# now occupies that position. | |
| Langston 2nd Dec 2021 | My copy says Copyright @1967, 1970, 1977 by Michael Moorcock. Every search online for the ISBN 0879978058 shows it as being published in 1977. I have no idea where 1983 is coming from. | |
| ppint. ● 1st Dec 2021 | date of this printing is wrong and should be corrected to 1983 the cat#, isbn and cover price are not those of the 1977 first daw books mmpb printing(s), and by interpolation into daw books' (& nal's) by then pretty rigorous system, best fit 3/1983 this is liable to be the seventh, possibly the sixth or eighth, daw books mmpb printing, and the printing history number line is liable to read ''7 8 9'' (perhaps ''7 8 9 10 11'' or similar). printing number will be found in the indica publishing history on the reverse of the title page, as the lowest number remaining in the printing history number line. | |
