Magic Marmalade 4th Jan 2016		Review This book does not need a review, as it is as un-review-able, as it is unreadable. It rather needs a warning instead... like those found on cigarette packets: -Reading, or attempting to read this book will seriously screw with your mental health - It is James Joyce's epic "stream of consciousness" "masterpiece", and it is so obscure that nobody has even worked out exactly what it's about (indeed, whole literary groups and societies get together at weekends and such to devote their time to decoding and trying to decipher meaning in it... an occupation which is only probably akin to trying to calculate Pi to the most decimal places). It was this that made me buy it... thinking: "I'm a pretty good reader, I'll have a crack, to see what the fuss is about". Error. My own personal record for this book is 50 pages in, before my brain began to implode, and I started chewing my eyelids. I begin to wonder if Joyce didn't actually write this as the greatest joke ever told, perpetrated against the intellectual pride of the "literati" persons... to serve up a book that would drive them all crackers trying to understand it and look for meaning where there is none. It's long, it begins where it ends, and ends where it begins, it makes zero sense, and even one paragraph will cook your neurons. My advice: Give this one a miss, and read something else instead.
