hadn't realised how far behind i'd got with darkover, and ordered the ones i'd not stocked, nor ever seen on sale "since i.m.t": i must stop doing series listings of authors & series i've liked - it's expensive!

° - i've not read most of the darkover books first published from 1996 on (save "hastur lord"), so i'm not truly competent to assign #25-#29 definite places in the series chronology: informed advice welcome.
- thank-you. ppint.

the friends of darkover original anthologies edited by marion zimmer bradley:
(i think all contain at least one work by mzb, as well as her introductions to the darkover stories she chose - and often encouraged - from the friends of darkover.)

first two of these bear " and other stories" in their complete titles as per their title pages, though not upon front covers or spines.

 Review
although this is the first novel by internal chronology, it is not a good place to start reading the darkover stories, as the unique darkovan neo-medieval society with a nobility based upon the laran abilities the families have selectively bred to defend themselves and their clients has not even started to develop.

reading "landfall", therefore, is best left until after one's image of the world, and the comyn-dominated society of the classic period, has become well-enough established for the events immediately surrounding the inadvertent forced human colonisation of what is fundamentally an only marginally suitable planet to have become a matter of interest.

the general design of this reprint's cover is identical with that of the then-forthcoming arrow books' editions published in their imminent new "legend" relaunched sf & f series, later to become an imprint in its own right, but n.b. it bears neither the legend series name, nor the legend logo.
