ppint. ● 16th Jan 2022		hiwatt1973 thank-you. it's infernally tricky to read the auspices (? perform a haruspectomy ?) accurately in this modern minimal-number-of-major-mega-world-straddling-publishers world, isn't it? - and random penguin are (is?) themselves owned by bertelsmann of (fundamentally) germany. . . uk international airport bookshops, newsagents &c. were the first shops in the yuk-of-gb-&-ni considered to be outside of the yuk-of-gb-&-ni for copyright territories purposes, and thus outside of the net book agreement terms (ancient history dept!), and permitted to order ''open market'' editions from - well, anywhere in the world, technically; but from both uk and merkin publishers & wholesalers in practice. - i'm still inclined to suspect this is an edition *intended* for distribution ''north of the parallel'' - but it's possible someone just made a mistake, and that final bloc was meant to be 00899, or 500899... ppint. ● 16th Jan 2022		hiwatt1973 is this not a canadian penguin books p/b? i'm asking this because of the complete bar-code number: 9780141187761 61899 in which the second, smaller bloc encodes not the uk cover price of £8.99, but the canadian $18.99 there may be further indicatory clues, possibly including such information as where this copy was printed - normally stated on the reverse of the title page; the listing of the different parts of the global penguimperium may give prominence to penguin books canada, and possibly also the end pp. advertisements may be primarily of penguin p/bs noted as being available in canada as well as in the uk-of-gb-&-ni... JimEss SUBS 1st Jan 2020		135th Signet Classic printing, and their top seller as of late 2019. I've included their Top Twenty chart from the back of the book. Shakespeare is hanging in there pretty well. These are mostly student sales I would imagine, and no need for elaborate cover art, although I haven't looked up all of them.
