 near-identical editions/printings sharing merkin-printed covers and hence also cat# and

cover art by david b. mattingly (signed, also credited)
near-meaningless daw books collector no. 473

cover prices vary:
cover price $2.25 (merkin-printed carcass ("book"))
cover price $2.50 (canadadian-printed carcass ("book"))
refer to indica to establish whether the carcass of the copy you hold was merkin- or canadadian- printed; also, the printing number string starts with "2" - i.e. daw books accounted it the second printing, though published simultaneously with the merkin 1st.

n.b. also: canadadian copies bear a cover price of $2.50 rather than the merkins' $2.25, so the cat# alpha prefix, "UE" which includes new american library's price-code letter "E", should have been changed to "UW", but was not: this seems to be a systematic error in the cat#s of nal group mmpbs where simultaneous separate merkin- and canadadian-carcassed copies bear different prices. ("seems to be" because yr hmbl srppnt.'s not checked all...)

 publication year in indica is incorrect; this was noted at the time of publication in locus, the monthly news magazine of the sf, f & h world, and is also noted by jaffery.
