ppint. 14th Oct 2020		the doublday science fiction book club edition was 3/1950 according to the publishing history in the bantam mmpb, which gives the first (book trade) three h/cvr printings of the first edition as 9, 10 & 11/1949, and something called the book league of america h/cvr printing as 2/1950: since the popular library first mmpb edition is dated 9/1950, 3/1950 seems a perfectly reasonable date for this merkin book club edition. it gives a fourth doubleday trade h/cvr printing as 1952, so evidently the markets for h/cvrs at around $2.50 and for mmpbs at 25¢ really were pretty well completely separate. cover (d-j) art signed giresti (it looks like), common to all these doubleday & doubleday sfbc hcvrs 224pp. including titles, indica etc, end pp.
