ppint. 5th Mar 2019		daw books near-identical simultaneous mmpb 4th & 5th printings sharing merkin-printed covers, and hence also isbn, cat#, cover art by david b. mattingly (signed "mattingly", also credited) b+w frontispiece by jack gaughan (signed "jg"; retained from first daw books printings) near-meaningless daw books number 447 (different from the first printings' daw books no., q.v.) 192pp. including titles, indica etc., end p. advertising refer to indica number-string to establish which printing is held; cover prices also differ: $2.25 (merkin-carcassed fourth printing, indica number-string 4 5 6 7 8 9)(8/1981 from jaffery) $2.50° (canadian-carcassed fifth printing, indica number-string 5 6 7 8 9) (8/1981 from jaffery) (° - as was the then daw books inc./n.a.l. norm, the second letter of the daw books cat# was not changed to match the cover price of the canadadian printing. i doubt anyone now remembers why (not); but the two cover prices were always given in the n.a.l. printed "catalog"/stocklist/order form, so i further doubt anyone was terminally confused. - ppint.)
