| ppint. ● 27th Sep 2020 | first uk p/b, first complete° p/b edition cover art by pat owen (signed) cover price 3'6°°, australia 6/-, canada 85c 192pp. including titles, indica etc, end pp. advertising (°° some copies finished without the uk price, at least officially intended for export/distribution from australia: some of which may've in fact been uk-distributed bearing uk price sticker) ° - w. w. norton & co, publishers of the merkin h/cvr, objected to the twenty-first chapter and burgess reluctantly agreed to its being dropped; this abridgement is the version upon which stanley kubrick's classic film was based. most people seem to agree that the twenty-first chapter is weak, and unconvincing. mmpbs follow the w. w. norton & co. abridgement through the early nineteen eighties, at least. | |
