ppint. 22nd Nov 2021		warner books aspect sf series, or sub-imprint, trade p/b edition, first merkin single-volume p/b edition not first single-volume p/b edition (was new english library / hodder & stoughton uk 1989) cover art by keith birdsong (credited) cover price $14.99 680pp. including titles, indicia etc. at least eight^W eleven undated re-printings, with cover price rising to $15.95 ($18.99 in canada); and with/by eighth printing, $15.95 ($21.95 canada) ninth printing through twelfth printing: refer to indicia publishing history printing number line to see which printing is held, as digits are dropped progressively with each additional printing: e.g. 10 9 8 indicates eighth printing; printing number line range changes to up to 20 as printing number transcends 10 with/by the eighth printing, the relative isbn13 (978-0-446-67127-9) is added, so this must've been printed c. 2001-2 (c.2002-3 ?) rather a strange choice of topic/subject for the photographically realistic cover art of two young men's faces (? or different aspects of one man's - ?°) opposed across a fanciful technological representation of part of a helical double dna strand; ° - though this does reflect two (or three!) significant threads - or strands - in this major novel, it completely ignores the central character, who is a girl, and a young woman, and, at the start of the story, a mature woman and a - the - dominant person in reseune: and a major power in the union as a whole, in consequence.
