The Doubleday edition of course is the book John Travolta is seen reading throughout "Pulp Fiction". Quentin Tarantino wanted to do a Modesty Blaise film but so far he hasn't gotten around to it, though he was involved in the distribution of a direct-to-video prequel called "My Name is Modesty" that was made in the mid-2000s.

A few notes about this book. Peter O'Donnell created the comic strip upon which the film was based, and O'Donnell here novelizes his script for the film (I believe the first hardcover edition predates the film's release). The final movie deviates from O'Donnell's script, so there are quite a few differences in the book. On the plus side, the book sold so well that - concurrent with continuing to write the comic strip - O'Donnell wrote a dozen more Modesty Blaise books and in fact the comic strip outlasted the books by several years. Modesty Blaise aficionados debate whether or not the novels exist in the same continuity as the comic strips due to the books depicting Modesty a bit differently than the comics at times.
