| | the artwork on this, the (abridged) new english library p/b edition is striking, and surely someone ought to be able to look at it and say ''oh yeah, that's probably so-and-so's work...''°
(° - yr hmbl srppnt. isn't the most visually acute of persons, elsewise i'd've said it should be me saying this - i'll try to bear it in mind while browsing hither and yon for other things...) (this comment is from another edition of this book) |

indicia publishing history misleadingly lists first printing, september, 1967°

refer to indicia to see if carcass of copy held was canadadian- or merkin- printed.
no priority established nor liable to be, both stating third printing, april 1970
(° absence of an avon books second printing as well as first printing suggests there may've been, or may've been presumed by avon books to've been, a similar split of printings of the banner books edition carcasses.) (this comment is from another edition of this book) |

| | somewhat confusingly, indicia accounts the banner books first edition as the first avon printing.
both being owned by the hearst corporation, this may be an indication that avon "inherited" the merkin licence to the rights, and didn't pay bob an advance against royalties to publish this edition. (this comment is from another edition of this book) |
