OldMod67 11th Feb 2023		When the paperback of this came out the following year, it was chosen as our non fiction book of the month. The cover photograph was taken in August 1963 on the roof of The Palace Court Hotel, Westover Road, Bournemouth. It is currently a Premier Inn and I usually walk on past it on the way to work. Additional note: This book won the 2020 Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction. Formerly the Samuel Johnson Prize for Non-Fiction, as a celebration of twenty-five years of the book prize a panel are currently reading all previous winners, to decide a Winner of Winners. Shortlist of six announced 9/3/23, winner announced 27/4/23.
